Please arrive in good time for the morning ceremony and settle in before proceedings begin.
Anand Karaj begins at Sri Guru Nanak Gurdwara.
Langar will be served in the Punjabi Community Hall after the ceremony.
Dilip will arrive with his family and friends and Simran's family will greet them at the Gurdwara Ardaas (prayer) is recited by the Granthi (priest) to start the day with blessings from God The 'Milni' takes place outside of the Gurdwara - members of each family greet each other and exchange garlands This tradition symbolises the merging of two families and the joyful union of loved ones
Breakfast and tea will be served in the Punjabi Community Hall Afterwards, please make your way to the Darbar Hall in the main Gurdwara building Please cover your head Women are requested to sit on the left and men on the right
The Kurmai is the traditional Punjabi engagement ceremony where the couple are officially betrothed Simran's father, brothers and uncles will present gifts to Dilip as a sign of respect and warm welcome into the family
Dilip will sit in front of the Guru Granth Sahib Ji, the holy scripture, which is considered the eternal and living Guru of the Sikhs Simran will then enter, accompanied by her brother, and will sit beside Dilip Simran and Dilip will stand with their parents as Ardaas (prayer) is recited This prayer seeks blessings from Waheguru (God) for the marriage and symbolises the consent of the bride, groom and their parents in the presence of family and friends
Simran's father takes the end of the Palla (scarf) worn by Dilip and places it into his daughter's hand, giving her away
Simran and Dilip will walk around the Guru Granth Sahib four times as the Granthi (priest) recites the four Laav The Laav are vows the couple make to each other
The couple commits to a lifelong partnership and vows to support each other.
Their love, trust, and mutual understanding continue to grow.
Their devotion and spiritual connection deepen as they journey together.
They achieve complete harmony and unity, promising a shared life of love and faith.
Dilip and Simran will now be officially married

After the Lavaan are complete, Kirtan (hymns) are sung that express the overwhelming joy of experiencing union with God This is followed by Ardaas (prayer) in which all guests stand and participate Karah Prashad (a sweet dish made from equal parts sugar, butter and flour) is distributed to all
Family and friends line up behind Dilip and Simran to congratulate them and take photos
After the ceremony, please head to the Punjabi Community Hall where Langar (lunch) will be served
